CAREER GPS
Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Career GPS, operated by BeyondPath Labs, collects, uses, and protects personal information when you use our website and services.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: name, email address, authentication identifiers, account role, and session information.
- Profile and career information: education, major, academic timing, career destination, geographic strategy, and related profile details.
- Career GPS answers and records: answers you provide during onboarding and updates, reported projects or experiences, progress selections, and other information you choose to submit.
- Usage data: limited product events about how key onboarding, preview, plan, and checkout flows are used.
- Technical and log data: request, device, browser, IP-address, security, diagnostic, and server-log information generated when the service is used.
- Payment-related information: customer, subscription, transaction, entitlement, and payment-status information received from Paddle. Career GPS does not directly store complete payment-card numbers or card security codes.
2. How we use information
We use information to authenticate accounts, generate and maintain Career GPS plans, recalculate guidance after reported changes, provide Student and Parent Access features, manage subscriptions and entitlements, deliver account and invitation messages, prevent abuse, secure and troubleshoot the service, understand product usage, provide support, and comply with legal obligations.
3. AI-assisted processing
Career GPS uses OpenAI services to assist with limited navigation and presentation of career guidance. Relevant structured career context may be sent to OpenAI to produce this content. Core career-position and decision rules remain deterministic within Career GPS. Do not submit sensitive information that is not needed for career planning.
4. Service providers
We use service providers only as needed to operate Career GPS. These currently include AWS for hosting and infrastructure, PostgreSQL database infrastructure, OpenAI for AI-assisted features, Paddle for payment processing and Merchant of Record services, Google when you choose Google sign-in, and PostHog for limited product analytics. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments and according to the services they provide to us.
5. Payments and Paddle
Paddle.com acts as Merchant of Record for purchases processed through Paddle and handles payment processing, applicable taxes, billing-related customer service, and refunds. Paddle provides Career GPS with transaction and subscription information needed to confirm access. We do not receive or directly store your complete payment-card details.
6. Cookies, sessions, and analytics
Career GPS uses cookies or similar browser storage for secure authentication sessions, language and product preferences, and essential application state. We use PostHog to capture a limited set of defined product events. Automatic pageview capture, general autocapture, and session recording are disabled in the current analytics implementation.
7. Data sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share information with service providers as described above, when you direct us to do so, to protect the service and its users, or when required by law. Parent Access receives only the high-level student summary allowed by the Family connection; it does not automatically expose the student's detailed Career GPS plan, projects, applications, interviews, notes, or raw answers.
8. Data retention
We retain account, Career GPS, billing, and operational records while needed to provide the service, preserve requested plan history, meet legal or accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service. Retention periods vary by record type. Subscription cancellation does not automatically delete Career GPS history. You may contact us about an account or deletion request.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information, including authenticated access, ownership checks, encrypted network connections, and restricted infrastructure access. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
10. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain a copy of personal information, or object to certain processing. You can update Career GPS information through the service and manage subscription cancellation through billing tools. Submit other privacy requests through our Contact / Support page. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
11. International data processing
Career GPS and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have data-protection laws different from those where you live. We use service-provider and contractual safeguards appropriate to the services involved.
12. Children's privacy
Career GPS is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
13. Policy changes
We may update this policy as Career GPS or applicable requirements change. We will update the date above and may provide additional notice for material changes.
14. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected] or use our Contact / Support page.
